Guest Designer Project For Carsons Cricut Creations Blog: Monster Mash Layout

Today I am the Guest Designer over at Georgiana's blog  http://carsonscricutcreations.blogspot.com/ I want to thank her for having me.  If you haven't been to her blog before, be sure to check it out for some great projects and ideas.

For my project, I decided to do a Halloween Layout that I was wanting to make based on the Monster Mash song.

-The mad scientist on this page was hand drawn, painted and cut out by my husband. I gave him an idea of what I was wanting to put on the layout and he designed him for me.

-I then added some green colored skittles and some green dots cut from the George and Basic Shapes Cartridge around the page to appear as bubbles from his beaker. I pop dotted the circles to give them some dimension.

-All of the cuts on the second page were made from the Mini Monsters cartridge as follows:

Spider and Web on page 74

Monsters from pages 29, 35, 42 and 40

I used google eyes, a black marker and a white opaque pen to add details to the cuts and the spider and web.

-The background paper for the picture spots is a paper called Spooky Dots made by The Paper Studio. I then cut a purple piece to put over the mat and added some small green rhinestones to the corners as well.

-Finally, I computer generated some of the song lyrics from the Monster Mash using the font called A Charming Font for the pages. I had to rephrase them just a little to fit my page with more than one monster. Page one says: "I was working in the lab late one night, when my eyes beheld an eerie sight, For my monsters from their slabs began to rise and suddenly to my surprise" Page Two says: "They did the mash! They did the Monster Mash!" I printed these onto the same green shade of cardstock that I used for the bubbles and cut around them before attaching them to the page to finish it off.

Thanks again to Georgiana for featuring me as a Guest Designer today.  Also, be sure to scroll down on the blog to the previous post for today's Halloween project for the 31 days of Horror.
