CWC Sweet Shop Blog Hop: Day 1: You make my heart sing Treats and Card

Welcome to Jean's Crafty Corner and the CookingWithCricut.com Sweet Shop Blog Hop! If you’ve never enjoyed a blog hop before, it’s where you ‘hop’ between blogs following a chain of links, with each blog in the chain posting something exciting for the event! There will even be some great blog candy (giveaways) to win along the way! We also have a secret phrase with letters for you to collect and unscramble along the way.  More on that in a moment!

If you've come from visiting Gaby at Gaby Creates, you're in the right place! If you've just happened across my blog and would like to play along with our fun hop, you can go to Cooking with Cricut and start at the beginning.

With Valentine’s Day just a few days away we are sharing some wonderful ideas and inspiration for your viewing and crafting pleasure! Each Design Team member will be featuring an original project each day (Saturday & Sunday) made especially for this hop. Make sure to check out each DT member's blog and collect the special letters as well. There will be prizes along the way at our DT members' blogs, AND there will also be prizes with a few different ways to win at CookingWithCricut.com!

For today, I made a card and some little treats to share with you. My theme for these is You Make My Heart Sing!
I love how these little singing heart guys turned out.  For them, I began by cutting the hearts out with the Sweethearts cartridge.  I then used Valentine colored sixlets and stapled four packs to the base heart to make arms and legs.  Next, I used Graphically Speaking for the eyes, Smiley Cards for the mouth, and Hannah Montana for the microphrone.  I used a white gel pen to add some details to the heart and then glued the top heart onto the base heart.  Finally, I used a dot of hot glue to add the microphone into the hearts hand.
I then wrote "You make my heart sing" on the back of the hearts.

These little guys turned out so cute, that I wanted to make a matching card.  For the card base, I used the Twinkle Toes cartridge.  I then used Sweethearts for the heart, Paper Doll Dress Up for the arms and legs, Graphically Speaking for the eyes, Smiley Cards for the mouth, and 3 Birds on Parade for the music notes.
I hand wrote the sentiment on the card. I also used a white gel pen to add some details around the card.

Now, on to the blog candy that I am offering.  I will be giving away a Paper Doll Dress Up Cartridge and Melin has also given me a wonderful cut file which includes a lacy heart, border and love title that I will be giving away as well. (See pictures below)  To be elgible for this giveaway, you must:
1) Become a follower if you are not already.
2) Leave a comment on this post (you can also get an additional entry by commenting on tomorrow's post as well)

I will take all comments left on Today and Tomorrow's Blog Hop Post and randomly select a winner for each prize on Monday, February 14th.  There will be two winners: 1 for the cutfile and 1 for the cartridge.(Please note this is a new cartridge, however it is not in plastic packaging, because it came in a bundle this way.)

Also, as I mentioned above you will find a secret letter at each stop that can be unscrambled to make a secret phrase for one of the giveaways at CookingwithCricut.com
Here is the “secret” letter you need to collect to be eligible for a prize package at CookingWithCricut.com.  Y

Now it's your turn! Let’s see your sweet Valentine projects. Be sure to include a Cricut or other die cut machine cut on your project and link it up at CookingWithCricut.com. The Design Team will pick their three favorites and one lucky sweetheart will be chosen randomly to win one of the six prize packages being offered in this hop.

Next stop is Jenna at Jenna's Favorite Things.  Go see what she has in store for you today and remember to hop through the rest of the Design Team blogs to collect all of the letters for the secret phrase.

And don’t forget, when you're done, make sure to head back to CookingWithCricut.com and get entered to win one of SIX prize packages being offered! Here’s how:

1. Link your sweet Valentine project and be one of the top three chosen by our Chefs.
2. Link your project and be the randomly drawn winner.
3. Collect all the letters and unscramble our “secret” phrase correctly and leave it in the special comment section on CookingWithCricut.com.
4. Or just leave a comment at CookingWithCricut.com and let us know how you liked our Sweet Shop Blog Hop.

Don't forget to come back tomorrow for more great Valentine's inspiration!

  22. Very clever...wish I had seen your cute little guys earlier..they would have been perfect to make for my grand daughter's valentines. I'm so amazed at how all you ladies can create using so many cards..you must have super memories to do so much recall as to what cards have what things on them.

  23. Oh my heavens - what a great idea to use the sixlets that way! I've got a bag of multi-color sixlets just waiting to become some sort of characters now!! The whole set with the card is so cool.

  46. Hey Georgiana, I bought the sixlets already packaged. They come from the Dollar General and they usually have them colored for each holiday. You get about 20 packs in a bag.

  47. I can't wait to go out and grab some of these candies to try this! Thanks for the great idea!

  48. I found a link to this post when I did a google search for cricut valentine treats and was just wow'd! I did a heart exactly like yours except with a different mouth and was working on them today at my favorite scrapbook store. One of the owners and one of the ladies there liked them so much they ook pictures to send to friends and before you know it, they created a run on Valentine sixlets. Bet you can't find any within a 20 mile radius of here!! Just wanted you to know how much I LOVED your idea!! This was a HUGE hit!!!
