Day 14 of the 20 Days of Christmas: Paperback Book Holiday Creations

For Day 14, I have two paperback book creations for the holiday to share with you.  If you missed the paperback monsters that I did for Halloween, these were put together the same way and you can see that post with a full tutorial on folding the books here: http://jeanscraftycorner.blogspot.com/2010/10/day-4-of-halloween-crafts-paperback.html

For the Christmas ones, I made a snowman and a reindeer.
I started out with my folded book.  I had actually folded two that I didn't use at Halloween, so they were ready to go.

I then used Martha Stewart ink pads to add paint to the edges of the book pages before decorating them.

For the snowman, I used a piece of red glitter felt to cut a scarf out.  Then, I took a hat and some holly and berries that I found at Hobby Lobby and attached them to the hat with hot glue to dress it up.

I then used George and Basic Shapes to cut circles for the eyes and mouth.  I added some lines to the eyes with a white opaque pen.  For the nose, I found these little snowmen noses at Hobby Lobby in the Christmas area.  I hot glued all of the items to the book to finish it up.

Now, for the reindeer, I used the Martha Stewart brown ink to color the pages and I also added the ink to the top of the pages as well.  I hot glued two large google eyes and one large red puff ball to the top for the nose.  I then used the Paper Doll Dress Up Cartridge and the Gypsy to cut a large pair of antlers that I also hot glued to the book.

I really like these book creations.  I think you could make an Elf, Santa, Angel, etc. using the same concept.

Update:  December 18th - My Sherri Crafts is having a challenge to link up your favorite Christmas project from this year, so I am adding these to their challenge.  You can find their blog here: http://myshericrafts.blogspot.com/

Fun! I have two "gag" gift books that I wondered if I could do something with. I was going to try to make my magazine Christmas trees, but I don't think it would work out very well.
