Spool of Thread Mini Sewing Box
I wanted to make a little box that looked like a spool of thread to put some sewing things into. I have had these little paper mache boxes for a while just sitting around and I decided by using both lids and one of the box centers I could achieve something close to the look of a spool. Here is what I ended up with. I think it may look more like a spool if the lids were thinner, but I think it works. :)
I started out by taking the box and lid and one additional lid and painting them white with Krylon Spray Paint.
Once the paint was dry, I placed the bottom lid onto the box. It fits tightly on, so there was no need for any glue to hold it in place. I also attached the top lid and used a pencil to mark where it would come down to on the box for the thread placement.
Now, I used the hot glue gun to attach some yarn to the box and I wrapped it, filling in the area in between the two lids. You could wrap this with any color you wanted and as thick or light as you want.
Once this was finished, I used SCAL to cut a little needle svg and hot glued it to the side.
